Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Rock Barn College Invitational

CONOVER, N.C. - The Anderson men's golf team wrapped up its fall slate with an eighth-place finish at the Rock Barn College Invitational, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday at the 7,027 yard, par-72 Rock Barn Spa Jones Course.

As a team, Anderson (315-306=621) finished three strokes behind Belmont Abbey (318-300=618) and four behind King University (308-309=617). The Trojans were seven shots in front of Newberry (318-310=628), 16 strokes ahead of the host Bears and 17 in front of Mars Hill (323-315=638).

Senior Sean Shelton sliced seven strokes from his first-round 78 and finished in a tie for seventh with a two-day total 149. Sophomore David Wachter (80-76=156) finished in a four-way tie for 30th, while junior CJ Messana (77-80=157) earned a tie for 34th. Senior Arran Setro (80-79=159) finished tied for 42nd and freshman Rob Warren (80-82=162) was three shots further back and finished 51st.

North Greenville's Sam Goodnight (72-74=146) claimed individual honors, finishing one shot ahead of the trio of Queens' Freddie Nordhoff and Jordan Bilodeau and USC Aiken's B. Robinson-Thompson.

The Trojans open their spring schedule on Feb. 10 at the Spring Intercollegiate Kickoff in Fleming Island, Fla.
