Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Tusculum Invitational

GREENVILLE, Tenn. - The Anderson University men's golf team wrapped up action at the 21st annual Tusculum College Invitational in ninth place after carding a two-day total 607 at the par 71, 6,733-yard Link Hills Country Club.

The Trojans (298-309= 607) slipped from fourth place after Saturday's first round, finishing one shot behind eighth-place Mars Hill (304-302=606) and two shots behind USC Lancaster (304-301=605).

Lincoln Memorial (575) won the team title by two strokes over Lee University as the Flames finished with a 577. Tusculum and Tennessee Wesleyan College tied for third place with 586, while the LMU B team finished fifth with 590. Walters State was sixth with 594, followed by USC Lancaster, Mars Hill and Anderson. Milligan College (608) rounded out the top-10.

Spartanburg Methodist was 11th with 612, while the Tusculum "Black" team was 12th with 615. The Mars Hill B team finished 13th with a 628, followed by Virginia-Wise (634), Bluefield State College (641), Parkland College (642), Marian University (644) and Urbana University (677).

LMU's Rand Wasson captured medalist honors, as he won in a playoff with Andrew Hall of Walters State College. Wasson and Hall both finished the tournament a two-under par total of 140. Hall posted the low round of the day with his three-under par 68.

Senior Sean Shelton's two-day 146 paced the Trojans, as he shared 16th, while Arran Setro (74-79=153) finished in a tie for 40th. David Wachter was two shots further back in a tie for 48th after a two-day total 155, along with teammates CJ Messana (77+78=155) and Rob Warren (78-77=155).

Anderson will get back on the links on April 7 at the Tennessee River Rumble, hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the Tennessee National Golf Club.
