Men's Golf Team Finishes Sixth At Regional

MIDLAND, Ga. -- The Anderson College men's golf team finished sixth in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Wednesday at the par-72, 6,800-yard Bull Creek West Course. Pfeiffer fired a tournament-low 293 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 913 and a nine-shot victory over second-place Belmont Abbey (315) at 922. Coker (303) and Barton (311) finished tied for third at 925. Queens (N.C.) was fifth at 926, Anderson was sixth at 965, St. Andrews Presbyterian was seventh at 972, and Fayetteville State was eighth at 985. Pfeiffer placed four players in the top 10. David Harris shot 75 in the final round to take the individual title with a total of 223, six shots better than teammate Ian Kenwright, who shot 69 in the final round; Tony DeCaro of Belmont Abbey, Vincent Dumouchel of Coker, and Ross Gilbert and Jon Wetton, both of Barton. Kenwright's 3-under 69 was the low round of the tournament. Anderson shot a 321 in the final round. The Trojans were led by Denton Moore, who shot a 78. Anderson's other three scores in the final round were Clay Williamson 79, Andrew Corley 81, and Kurt Owings 83. Corley, a senior from Saluda, S.C., was Anderson top individual finisher -- a tie for 16th at 235. Pfeiffer will advance to the NCAA Division II national tournament at The Club at Savannah Harbor at Savannah, Ga., May 17-20.
