Lees-McRae Takes Four-Shot Lead After First Round

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Dion Sirrianni shot a one-under 71 and Chris Wright fired a 73 to lead Lees-McRae to a 299 total and a four-shot lead over Wingate after the first round of the third Anderson College Invitational Monday at the Brookstone Meadows Golf Club. Lorcan Morris of Wingate, Paul Butler of Limestone, and Brian Black of Southern Wesleyan all are tied with Sirrianni for the individual lead at 71. Peter Campbell of Southern Wesleyan and Brian Rush of Spartanburg Methodist both are at even-par 72. Lincoln Memorial and Southern Wesleyan are tied for third at 307, and host Anderson is at 309. The other seven teams in the field failed to break 310. Anderson's low round was a 1-over 73 by Brad Eskierka. The field averaged 80.34 on the hilly 6,700-yard Brookstone layout. Sirrianni, Campbell, Butler, and Matt Short of Lees-McRae led the field in birdies with five apiece. The final round will be played Tuesday morning.
