Rain Washes Away Final Round At Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. -- Presbyterian took home the championship of the Richard Rendleman Invitational hosted by Catawba College Tuesday. The event, held at the 6,665-yard, par-71 Country Club of Salisbury, was shortened to one round due to high winds and rain on Tuesday morning. The Blue Hose shot a five-under-par 279 to win the team title by 16 shots over host Catawba. Ben Karns of Presbyterian took home medalist honors after carding a four-under-par round of 67 on Monday. He beat teammates Hugh Morrison and Jimi Brindell by three shots. Four others -- Catawba's Steven Harvey and Blair Matthews, Josh Rhyne of Mars Hill, and Grand Valley State's Josh Orler -- had even par rounds of 71 to finish joint fourth. Anderson College finished in 15th place.
