Hash Earns First-Team All-Region Honors

Hash Earns First-Team All-Region Honors

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Anderson University standout guard Chandler Hash has been named to the 2014 Daktronics Division II men's basketball All-Southeast Region first-team, as announced Thursday morning.

Hash, the nation's leader in total points scored this season with a school-record 757 points, has helped lead the Trojans to their fourth NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament in the last five years.

The Greer, S.C., native is a two-time First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree and ranked fifth in the nation with his 24.4 points per game average. He notched a career-high 44 points in last Saturday's SAC semifinal win past Coker and followed by pouring in 33 points against Lincoln Memorial in the conference championship on Sunday afternoon. He was named the SAC Tournament MVP for his efforts.

The 6-foot guard has started all 59 games for the Trojans over the past two seasons and has reached double figures in all but four of those contests, including 12 games of more than 30 points.

Hash has garnered accolades off the court as well, earning Capital One Academic All-America Second-Team honors and is the reigning South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete for men's basketball.

Lincoln Memorial senior forward Vincent Bailey was voted the Southeast Region Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Year. Bailey led the Railsplitters to both the South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament titles, scoring 21.6 points per game and pulling down nearly 10 rebounds per game. Those numbers both ranked second in the SAC, and his 61.6-percent field goal shooting was the league's fourth-best. The forward finished the regular-season with 14 double-doubles - tied for the SAC lead - and scored 20 or more points in 17 of LMU's 26 games.

Joining Bailey on the Daktronics Southeast Region first team were forwards Antoine Davis of Carson-Newman and Roderick Perkins of Erskine, along with Hash and guard Troran Brown of Montevallo.

Selected to the second team were guards PJ Foster of Limestone, Ronald Zimmerman of USC Aiken, Evrik Gray of Francis Marion, Ish Sanders of Carson-Newman and Chris Flemmings of Barton. Forward Ishmael Hollis of North Georgia rounded out the Southeast Region second team.

Players selected to the region first team will now be listed on the Daktronics All-American national ballot. The All-American team will be announced Monday, March 24.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
