Men’s Basketball Seeded Fourth in Southeast Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Trojan men's basketball team has been seeded fourth in the NCAA's Southeast Region and will face fifth-seeded GRU Augusta Saturday at host USC Aiken, as announced by the NCAA selection Committee Sunday night.

The fourth-seeded Trojans will be making their fourth appearance in the Big Dance in the last five years by squaring off against the Jaguars for the second time this season. Anderson outlasted GRU Augusta, 91-86, in the second game of the season for both squads, as senior guard Chandler Hash poured in a then career-high 42 points.

The Trojans (22-9) will square off against the Jaguars (23-7), who entered the Peach Belt Conference Tournament ranked fourth in the Southeast by the NCAA, but was seeded fifth by the selection committee, while AU moved up to fourth after making its second appearance in the SAC title matchup in three seasons.

The host Pacers (29-3) are ranked seventh in the nation and claimed their second straight Peach Belt title on Sunday with a 61-59 win past Montevallo (24-5), which earned the region's No. 3 seed. USC Aiken will square off against Conference Carolinas Tournament champion Limestone, which earned the eighth seed after posting a 21-8 overall record.

Montevallo (24-5) will be making its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and will face Georgia Southwestern (20-10), the No. 6 seed, in the tournament quarterfinals on Saturday.

With its second South Atlantic Conference title in four years on Sunday, Lincoln Memorial (27-2) earned the second seed and will face seventh-seeded Carson-Newman (19-8), which earned an at-large bid after being upset in the SAC quarterfinals by Coker.
