Trojans Remain Fifth in NCAA Southeast Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - On the eve of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament, the Anderson men's basketball team remains fifth in the Southeast Region in the NCAA's third and final Division II Southeast Region weekly rankings of the season, as released Wednesday.

All 10 teams in the regional poll remained unchanged, as Peach Belt Conference-member USC Aiken (26-3, 18-1 PBC), which is ranked seventh in the latest NABC Coaches Poll and finished atop the East Division of the Peach Belt Conference, remained first in the regional rankings. Lincoln Memorial (24-2, 20-2 SAC), which is ranked 13th in the latest NABC Coaches Poll and claimed the South Atlantic Conference regular-season title, is still second on the regional list, with 17th-ranked Montevallo (22-4, 15-4 PBC), which finished in first place in the West Division of the PBC, remaining in the third spot.

GRU Augusta (22-6, 15-4 PBC) sits in fourth. Anderson (20-8, 15-7 SAC), which earned the third seed in the SAC Tournament, remained one of four teams from the South Atlantic Conference in the regional rankings. Carson-Newman (19-7, 16-6 SAC), which is the second seed in the SAC tourney, stayed steady at sixth, with Georgia Southwestern (19-9, 11-8 PBC) in seventh.

Conference Carolinas' members Mount Olive (19-8, 12-4 CC), which earned the top seed in the Conference Carolinas' tournament and Barton (17-10, 12-4 CC) are eighth and 10th, respectively, with SAC-member Newberry (18-8, 14-8 SAC) ninth in the rankings.

The NCAA D-II Tournament selections are scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday at 10:30 p.m.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.
