Hash Named First-Team Academic All-District

ANDERSON, S.C. - For the second consecutive year, Anderson University men's basketball senior guard Chandler Hash has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III men's basketball first team for NCAA Division II, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.

Hash is the reigning South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete for men's basketball and carries a 3.51 grade point average, while majoring in nursing.

"We are really very proud of Chandler and everything he has been able to accomplish on and off the court," said Anderson head coach Jason Taylor. "He is extremely well-rounded and works as hard academically as he does on the court. The honor is well-deserved."

A native of Greer, S.C., Hash earned Preseason First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors and has started 46 consecutive games for the Black and Gold. The left-handed sharpshooter has reached double figures in the scoring column in 34 straight contests and leads the SAC in scoring and ranks 13th nationally with his 23.4 points per game average.

Hash is seventh all-time in Anderson's record books with 1,203 career points and his career-high 42 points versus GRU Augusta in November is tied for sixth highest in NCAA Division II this season. He has been named SAC Player of the Week three times in his career and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and the Anderson University Dean's List. He was among 202 nominees for the 2014 Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams,® as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the Allstate Insurance Company on Dec. 3.

Hash was joined on the academic team by North Georgia's Travis Core, UNC Pembroke's Ben Jacobs, Coker's Jonathan Gardner and USC Aiken's Jesse Seilern. Core, Jacobs and Seilern were repeat winners from a year ago.

In order to earn recognition, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and are voted upon by CoSIDA members. CoSIDA District III includes the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas.
