Trojans Drop Two To Fall Out Of CVAC Tourney

WILSON, N.C. -- Pfeiffer University rallied from a 7-0 deficit to beat Anderson University 11-8 and eliminate the Trojans from the 2006 CVAC Tournament Friday. In Anderson's first game of the day, Erskine jumped out to an 8-0 lead and went on to post a 12-6 victory over the Trojans. Erskine took control of the game in the third. Leading 3-0 with two outs and nobody on, the Flying Fleet produced six straight hits and scored five more runs. The big hits in the inning were two-run homers by Evan Cook and JJ Newman. Newman, who was 0-for-5 against Anderson last Monday night, was 5-for-5 with two doubles and a home run in Friday's game. Pfeiffer got a three-run homer from Mike McClain and two-run homers from Kyle Pugh and Blake Jordan to pull off its comeback. Three singles and a three-run homer by Carson staked Anderson to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Trailing 7-0, the Falcons got one run in the fourth and five in the fifth to slice the Trojan lead to 7-6. An RBI single by Ryan Brown gave Pfeiffer a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the sixth, and Jordan's two-run blast gave the Falcons some insurance in the seventh. John Mac White had three hits -- a single, a double, and a home run -- in five trips for Anderson in the second game. Anderson completes it season at 24-34.
