White's Big Day Fuels Anderson Comeback

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- John Mac White had a home run and two triples to lead Anderson University to an 11-10 victory over Coker in a CVAC game Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 22-32 overall and 10-12 in the CVAC, trailed 8-4 entering the top of the eighth inning. White was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Also adding to the Anderson attack were Blair Carson, who was 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, and Cody Nye, who finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. The Trojans scored three runs off five hits and a Coker error in the eighth to bring them within one run -- 8-7. Kyle Lewis led off the inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Pitts. White then tripled and scored on an infield hit by Nye. Nye came home on a single by Carson. Then in the ninth, Coker reliever Seth Weinberg failed to get an out while giving up three runs to give the Trojans the lead. Tony Graham walked to start Anderson's four-run ninth. After an error put runners at first and second, Pitts walked to load the bases. Then White delivered a three-run triple and scored on a single by Nye. The Cobras, 16-30-1 and 3-21, did try to mount a come back as Steven Dill wrapped an RBI double and Steven Evans later plated Dill with a ground out to second. But P.J. Scarborough entered the game for Anderson and recorded a strikeout to end it. Weinberg (2-4) took the loss for Coker, allowing three runs in the top of the ninth, while Scarborough earned his first collegiate win, throwing two solid innings for the Trojans, allowing two runs on just one hit, while striking out three. Evans was 2-for-5 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs for Coker. Anderson's next game is Monday, as they face rival Erskine at 6 p.m. 2006 Anderson University Baseball Statistics
