Trojans Finish On High Note, Rip Lander, 12-6

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson University Trojans won their fourth straight game and their fifth game in their last six outings with a 12-6 victory over Lander in a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium. Anderson improves to 24-32, while Lander drops to 28-18. Blair Carson led Anderson's 15-hit attack with four hits in five trips and three RBI. Cody Nye was 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Trojans, who scored in double digits for the fourth straight game. Clint Neville also was 3-for-5 for Anderson and had one RBI. Lander scored two in the first, two in the second, and one in the third to take a 5-0 lead. Anderson bounced back with single runs in the third and the fourth. After both teams scored a single run in the fifth, the Trojans scored seven runs in the seventh to take control of the game. The Anderson seventh started with walks to Kyle Lewis and Jonathan Pitts. With one out, Cody Nye tripled to slice the Bearcat lead to 6-5. A run-scoring single by Blair Carson brought home Nye to tie the game at 6. Jessie Whiteside singled to put runners at first and second then Clint Neville doubled to score Carson. After Whiteside scored on an error, Neville on a balk to increase the Anderson lead to 10-6. Anderson added two more runs in the eighth on an RBI triple by Carson and a sacrifice fly by Whiteside. Adam Hutchins was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Radley Raven was 2-for-4 for the Bearcats. Anderson opens play in the CVAC Tournament at Wilson, N.C., Friday at 10 a.m. against arch-rival Erskine. 2006 Anderson University Baseball Statistics
