Making History: AC Women Enter National Poll

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson College women's basketball team made history Wednesday by entering the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll for the first time ever. The Lady Trojans, 2-1 overall, are ranked No. 19 in the poll. "We're excited to finally reach the top 25," said Anderson head coach Kevin Pederson. "People around the country are starting to notice us, especially after our performance in the Disney tournament. Our players must realize they have to play hard every night because every team on our schedule is going to have us circled. We're off to a good start, but we've got a lot of work to do." Defending national champion California (Pa.) received 21 of the 24 first-place votes to take the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the top 10 behind the Vulcans are Drury, Seattle Pacific, Merrimack, Emporia State, Henderson State, North Dakota, Rollins, Washburn, and Concordia. Anderson is 1-1 against two teams listed in the top 20. The Lady Trojans beat No. 6 Henderson State and lost to No. 16 Bentley in the Disney Tip-Off Classic last weekend. Anderson's next action is Monday at Converse. Division II Coaches Poll Nov. 10
