Trojans Fall Twice to Eagles

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson softball Team faced Carson-Newman on Sunday in a non-conference duel with the Trojans dropping both ends of the doubleheader, 10-0 and 9-1. The first matchup was a pitcher's duel until the top of the third inning when four Carson-Newman base hits equaled four runs for the Eagles. In the fourth and fifth innings the Trojans surrendered a total of nine hits and six runs to make the score 10-0. In the first game seniors Elisa Sebastyan and Lora Daniel each had one hit out of the Trojans' total of three. Junior pitcher Alex Waldroup tossed four innings, and dropped to 2-1 on the season. The second game started off better for the Trojans when sophomore Amber Duncan hit a towering solo home run ball over the center field wall to inch the Trojans closer to the Eagles, 2-1. The shot gave Duncan 12 RBI on the season. But two Trojan errors, a Carson-Newman home run and two doubles from the Eagles put Anderson at a 9-1 disadvantage. The Trojans were only able to record just five hits though the course of the second game, with freshman Kayla Hipp's first start of the season turning into her first loss of the season. She went four innings for the Trojans. Anderson will take the field again on Tuesday for another non-conference doubleheader at Lander College at 3 and 5 p.m. Game 1 Game 2 Season Stats
