James, Dortch and Jenkins Earn All-South Atlantic Conference Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – On the eve of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament semifinals and championship, the Anderson University men's basketball team saw a trio of players capture All-Conference honors as announced by the league office, Thursday morning.

Guard Crosby James II garnered Second Team All-SAC recognition, while forward Parker Dortch captured third-team honors and guard Myles Jenkins was named to the All-Freshman Team.

James drew a starting nod in 24 of the 26 games he played in and wrapped up the regular season as the league's leading scorer by averaging nearly 18 points per game. The Columbia native averaged more than 30 minutes per contest and was third on the team in both rebounding (4.3 rpg.) and free throw accuracy (71.1%). James reached double-figure scoring in 21 contests, while pouring in a career-high 28 points in AU's seven-point win at Coker in late January. He posted a double-double against Limestone, with 20 points and 10 rebounds and wrapped up the season in 13th place in the school record books with 1,090 career points. He needs 31 points to move past Shawn Benard (2015-20) for 12th place all-time.
The all-conference recognition marks James third consecutive season with postseason accolades after earning honorable mention honors last year and claiming Freshman of the Year honors following the 2020 campaign.

A graduate transfer from Loyola Marymount, Dortch was second on the team in both scoring (15.5 ppg.) and rebounding (5.0 rpg.), while leading the squad and ranking eighth in the league with a 56.6 percent field goal accuracy. The Columbus, N.J., native posted double-figure scoring in 19 games, including reaching a season-high 30 points on two occasions – against both Lander and Catawba. He also pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds in the overtime win past the Bearcats.

In his first season wearing the Black and Gold, Jenkins saw action in 26 regular-season contests, while starting 18 contests and averaged more than 26 minutes per game. The Lexington, S.C., native was fourth on the team with 7.8 points per game, while netting a season-high 19 points in the Trojans' 100-97 home win over Mars Hill. A 6-foot-4 guard, Jenkins also poured in 18 points against both Limestone and UVA Wise and was fourth on the team with 4.1 rebounds per game and grabbed a season-high nine boards against Wingate in mid-January.

Lincoln Memorial forward Jamari Smith was voted the 2021-22 Player of the Year, while Carson-Newman forward Bryant Thomas was voted the Conference's Defensive Player of the Year, and Mars Hill guard Kadyn Dawkins was voted the SAC Freshman of the Year.
