Bishoff Wins Furman’s Gene Mullin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Anderson University senior Whitney Bishoff set a new course record en route to claiming individual honors, while leading the Trojans' women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the 39th Gene Mullin Furman Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning.

The 11-team field included five NCAA Division I schools in the 5K event, with Bishoff posting a time of 17:56 and crossing the finish line a comfortable 13 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.

A trio of Trojans finished as a group, with junior Amanda Johnson (20:35), sophomore Hannah Robles (20:38) and freshman Sydney Hazel (20:42) claiming 36th, 37th and 38th respectively.

Junior Emily Eckroth (21:22) crossed the line in 47th, while sophomore Rachel Westberry earned 55th with a time of 21:38 and senior Kristin Page (23:37) notched 68th .

Anderson will have a two-week break before defending its title at the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Oct. 22 in Morristown, Tenn.
