Women’s Cross Country 21st at Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Anderson women's cross country team posted a 21st-place finish in a field that included 17 NCAA Division I teams at the fourth annual UNC Charlotte Invitational Friday afternoon at McAlpine Creek Park

The field of 43 teams in the 5K event was the largest Charlotte Invitational yet, and senior Whitney Bishoff (17:31.15) paced the Trojans with her best time of the season to cross the line 12th, while newcomer Sydney Hazel (20:15.17) claimed 159th.

Sophomore Hannah Robles (20:17.10) trimmed 46 seconds off her season-opening time at USC Upstate's Eye Opener to earn the 162nd spot and junior Emily Eckroth (20:41.24) garnered 190th, while junior Amanda Johnson (20:43.39) was just behind in 193rd . Sophomore Rachel Westberry (20:56.31) placed 204th with a season-best 20:56.31 to round out the Andeson contingent.

Anderson will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Gene Mullin Furman Invitational in Greenville.
