Women’s Cross Country Places Ninth at Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - Battling against a field with seven NCAA Division I teams, including five ACC squads, the Anderson women's cross country team notched a ninth -place finish at the Clemson Invitational Friday night at the Tiger's home course at Musser Farms.

The veteran Clemson Tiger women, ranked sixth nationally in the latest USTFCCCA poll, won the 6K event, while Anderson was coming off a seventh place finish and tops among D-II schools competing two weeks ago at USC Upstate's Eye Opener.

Senior standout Whitney Bishoff (21:37.09) paced the Trojans and all D-II runners, crossing the finish line in 17th place, while sophomore Lydia Davis (24:27.75) earned 68th to lead a consistent group of Trojans. Sophomore Hannah Robles (24:47.49) crossed the line in 72nd and junior Amanda Johnson (25:10.09) was less than 23 seconds later in 74th.

Junior Emily Eckroth (25:30.68) garnered 80th , while sophomore Rachel Westberry (25:30.68) placed 82nd. Freshman Sydney Hazel (25:35.06) and senior Kristin Page (28:22.86) rounded out the AU contingent in 83rd and 110th, respectively.

Anderson will get back on the course on Friday, Sept. 30, at the Charlotte Invitational.
