SPOKANE, Wash. - Anderson University senior standout Whitney Bishoff will be competing on the national cross country stage for the third time in her storied collegiate career, as she will be on the course at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex for the 2011 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship Saturday afternoon.
The Winder, Ga., native, posted a third-place finish at the Southeast Region Championship two weeks ago in Charlotte, helping lead the Trojans to a fifth-place team finish and tops among SAC schools.
Bishoff earned First-Team All-SAC honors for the second consecutive season after pacing the Trojans to their second straight conference championship last month and earned SAC Runner of the Week on five occasions over the past two seasons. She paced the Trojan cross country squad on 19 consecutive occasions over her career, posting 12 of the top 15 times in school history in the 5k.
She made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division II Cross
Country Championships in 2008 and 2009, earning All-America status
with a 25th-place finish at the 2009 NCAA National Championships in
Evansville, Indiana. She posted a 68th-place finish on the national
scene in 2008 and holds the school record in both the 5k (17:31.15)
set at the UNC Charlotte Invitational earlier this season and the
6k (21:26.4).
The event, hosted by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, is
slated to start at 2p.m. ET, and will be webcast at www.ncaa.com.
