Track & Field Team Strong at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. - The Anderson University track and field teams continued their outdoor seasons at the Coastal Carolina University Invitational Friday and Saturday by posting five top-five marks and 12 top-ten finishes at the event, which listed competitors from 31 universities.

Sophomore Re'Jeania Evans started it off for the Trojans by claiming 13th in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.68, while fellow sophomore Krishaun Hall took the first of tgwo top-ten finishes with ninth in the 200 meter (25.54) and 10th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.64.

Freshman Lydia Davis placed second in the 1500 meter at 4:50.46, while Emily Eckroth finished 11th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:49.31. Freshman Elizabeth Fastzkie
posted a height of 4-11 in the high jump, which was good enough for 11th and junior Lauren Sloan brought home four top 12 finishes. Her top finish was second in the shot put with a distance of 42-08, while notching sixth in the discus throw at 123-02. She finished 10th in the hammer (133-00) and 12th in the javelin toss at 103-06.

The AU women finished sixth in the 4x100 meter relay, with a time of 49.76 and the men's squad took eighth after crossing the finish line in a time of 44.15.

On the men's side, sophomore Josh Butler took seventh (10.99) in the 100 meter dash, while freshman Terrence Jefferson claimed the 11th spot in a time of 11.06. The duo swapped places in the 200 meter, as Jefferson finished sixth (21.94) and Butler crossed the line in 12th in 22.46. Jefferson also finished sixth in the high jump with a height of 6-00.75

Sophomore Matt Shaffer earned second in the 800 meter, with a time of 1:56.75, while claiming fifth in the 1500 meter in 4:03.85. Fellow sophomore Nigel Reynolds placed ninth in a time of 4:04.93.

Sophomore Alex Pena notched sixth in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:00.10 and Zach Hart reached a height of 14-07.25 to claim fourth in the pole vault. Will Byars earned 12th with a distance of 44-01.50 in the shot put.
