Track and Field Records Continue to Fall

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - After setting eight school records at their season-opening event at Clemson, the Trojan track and field teams continued to post strong outings with four new marks being set at last Friday and Saturday's 33rd annual Niswonger Invitational at the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center, hosted by East Tennessee State University.

On the women's side, just a week after notching a record-breaking time in the mile run, newcomer Lydia Davis re-set a new mark with her 5:27.22 time en route to finishing 16th , while junior Whitney Bishoff trimmed more than six seconds off her school-record in the 3000m by finishing third with a time of 10:08.63. Sophomore Krishaun Hall set a new AU standard with her 26.92 time crossing the line in 87th in the 200m dash prelims.

Junior Lauren Sloan placed 24th and 28th in the shot put and weight throw, respectively, with distances of 11.07 and 11.50 meters.

Terrance Jefferson eclipsed his own school record in the men's 200m dash by finishing 49th in the prelims with a time of 22.68, while newcomer Deniz Hay (4:33.50) and sophomore Nigel Reynolds (4:33.53) finished 24th and 25th, respectively in the mile run.

Freshman Park Edwards garnered 18th in the 3000m with a time of 9:24.51, while sophomore Alex Pena crossed the line in 26th with a time of 9:35.04.

The Trojans are back in action on Friday and Saturday at Clemson's Tiger Paw Invitational.
