Top-Seeded Trojans Win Opening Round Of The NCAA Southeast Regionals

ANDERSON, S.C. – Superb pitching backed by an eight-hit, eight-run attack, Anderson University softball remain in the winner's bracket after making short work of the eighth-seeded Patriots of Francis Marion, winning 8-0 in five inning of play on day one of the NCAA Southeast Regionals at the AU Softball Complex.  

Sophomore Laken Maxwell (20-5) threw a complete game one-hit shutout. Maxwell walked one, while striking out six.

Seniors Gracie Williams and Kayson Boater and junior Hope Gullatt collected two RBI apiece with Gullatt drilling her third home run of the season.

The Trojans face off with conference foe and fifth-seeded Lincoln Memorial at 10 am, after the Railsplitters defeated King, 5-3.

(Game 3) No. 1 Anderson vs No.5 Lincoln Memorial– 10 am

(Game  4) No. 8 Francis Marion vs No. 4 King – 12:30 pm

(Game 5) Loser Game 3 vs Winner Game 4 – 3 pm
