Boatner Earns The 2022 Division II Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week For The Third Time This Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Anderson University senior Kayson Boatner was named NFCA's Division II Louisville Slugger Player of the Week. She is being recognized for outstanding performances during contests played April 11-17 .

In a pair of doubleheader sweeps, Boatner, who captured her third weekly honor of 2022, hit .667 with a double, triple, home run and five RBI. Against then-No. 15 Lincoln Memorial, she drew five walks, three of which were intentional, in game one of the twinbill. Against Coker, Boatner was 5-for-8 with five RBI and three runs scored. She doubled, homered and drove in three runs in the opener. The Phenix City, Ala. native added three hits, including her first triple of the season, and two RBI in game two. Boatner finished the week with a .786 on-base percentage and did not strike out in 14 plate appearances.

Boatner currently leads the South Atlantic Conference with 22 home runs and is two home runs shy of breaking the SAC's All-Time Season record of 23 total home runs and is four home runs away from breaking the SAC's All-Time Career record of 63. The senior first baseman also leads the SAC in RBI with 59 and ranks second in batting average with an impressive average of .463.

Anderson is currently 33-5 overall and 18-2 in SAC play. The Trojans vaulted up the poll to No. 13, after holding the No. 20th spot last week.

The Division II Player and Pitcher of the Week awards are voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee, which consists of two head coaches from each of the NCAA's eight regions. To be eligible, student-athletes must be nominated by their member head coach.
