LADY TROJANS LOSE TWO AT LIMESTONE

LADY TROJANS LOSE TWO AT LIMESTONE

GAFFNEY, SC--The Anderson University softball team ran into somewhat of a road block on Thursday as they visited Conference Carolinas foe Limestone, and in the midst of the Lady Saints' current 14 game winning streak the Lady Trojans fell prey, dropping both games 6-1 and 3-0. AU will remain on the road this weekend as they will take on Queens and Pfeiffer, coming back home on Tuesday to finish their season against Erskine in a doubleheader at Smethers Field. Second baseman Kinsley Durham gave AU their only run on a solo shot. But the Lady Trojans faced tough pitching from the Lady Saints; Emily Wallace got the win for Limestone, as she pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits. Wallace limited damage from all AU bats as she struck out one and walked one. Lauren Robertson closed out the game for Limestone, allowing two hits in two innings of work. Casey Deer was tagged with the loss for the Lady Trojans, as she gave up three earned runs on six hits, while walking two batters. The Saints scored all three of their game two runs in the first inning. Kayla Williams was 2-3 in the game, but the Lady Trojans were never able to recover from the Saints' first-inning onslaught. Limestone enjoyed great pitching from Kristy Witten, as she improved to 12-8 overall, picking up the win. She only allowed one hit in four innings of work and posted four strikeouts. The Lady Trojans will try to figure it out this weekend as they head to North Carolina to face Pfeiffer and Queens over the weekend.
