Trojan Track and Field Posts Strong Outings at Terrier Relays

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams combined for a pair of first-place finishes and 20 top-10 finishes at Wofford's Fourth Annual Terrier Relays on Saturday.

Juniors Brooklyn Watt and Savanna Keese traded first-place finishes, with Watt claiming the top spot in the discus throw with a distance of 39.61 meters, while Keese captured first place in the hammer throw with a toss of 40.55 meters.

Keese was 16th in the discus throw with a distance of 32.25 meters, with sophomore D'Yandra Morris (25.58 meters) claiming 27th. The hammer throw saw Watt place sixth with a toss of 39.00 meters, while Morris took 12th with a distance of 35.83 meters.

Watt was second in the shot put with a distance of 11.93 meters, with Morris claiming third at 11.71 meters. Keese finished seventh with a toss of 11.05 meters. Keese also placed 34th in the javelin throw with a distance of 16.53 meters.

Sophomore Lauren Averitt was 22nd in the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.56, while junior Madison Guest brought home 11th in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:01.65. Freshman Sherin Malone was eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.01.

Freshman Bari Robinson paced the Trojans in the 1500 meter run by claiming fourth in a time of 4:57.33, with junior Sydney Hazel (5:01.48) placing seventh and sophomore Devan Fisher (5:26.24) crossing the line in 26th.
Junior Jill Baxter finished sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.54 meters, while teammate Megan Shahoud was 11th at 1.49 meters. Baxter was 28th in the long jump with a distance of 4.57 meters and Shahoud finished 32nd with a distance of 4.23 meters.

Freshman Olivia Gardner (19:01.49) was fifth in the 5000 meter run, with freshmen Grace Gerlock (19:41.27) and Mia Swierzs (19:56.29) just behind in sixth and eighth, respectively. The 4x100 meter relay team of Averitt, Baxter, Shahoud and Malone captured eighth in a time of 52.47, while Baxter, Guest, Malone and Robinson finished ninth in the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:24.01.

On the men's side, freshman Thomas Garrigan took fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:00.39, with fellow freshman Philip Degraaf claiming 10th in the pole vault at 3.60 meters.

Junior Joshua Visi-Clark placed 15th in the 400 meter dash in a time of 51.19, while freshman Caleb Knight claimed 26th in a time of 53.29. The 110 meter hurdles saw freshman Jonathan Shorter (19.35) finish 16th, with Malik Brown in 18th in a time of 21.47. Shorter also finished the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.44 to claim 15th.

Freshman Jesse Patrick claimed 45th in the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:27.75, while Eric Hoover placed 19th in the triple jump with a distance of 12.04 meters. Degraaf (34.34 meters) and Hoover (31.95 meters) finished 20th and 25th, respectively in the javelin throw.

Senior Westley Wilson (15:49.24) paced the Trojans with a fifth-place finish in the 5000 meter run, while senior Parks Edwards (15:51.37) was just behind in sixth. Freshman Ben Boerma (16:17.44) was 11th, with freshman Ned Kennedy (16:39.32) claiming 15th. Freshman Michael Burch (16:58.37) finished 19th.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Shorter, Brown, Hoover and Caleb Knight claimed ninth in a time of 45.60, while the 4x400 meter relay combination of Knight, Shorter, Visi-Clark and Hoover finished eighth in a time of 3:32.32
