Track and Field Wraps Up Competition at Niswonger Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up action at the 36th Annual Niswonger Invitational, hosted by East Tennessee State on Saturday inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletics Center at the David E. Walker Track and Gentry Field.

Following Friday's opening day, the competition began with the women's 5,000 meter run blue section final. Field events as well as distance and sprints competition carried on over the course of the day with women's and men's 4x400 meter relay finals wrapping things up.

Anderson freshman Olivia Gardner brought home ninth place in the 3000 meter run in a time of 11:23.37, while classmates Grace Gerlock (12:20.90) and Amber Worthy (12:25.29) crossed the line in 14th and 16th, respectively.

Junior Sydney Hazel claimed 14th in the one mile run in a time of 5:37.06, with freshman Bari Robinson finishing 25th in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:35.21. Freshman Megan Shahoud placed 35th in the long jump with a distance of 4.44 meters.

The group of Hazel, Gardner, Robinson and Jill Baxter claimed 10th in the women's distance medley in a time of 13:22.54.

Senior Parks Edwards (9:17.05) paced the Trojan men with a fourth-place finish in the 3000 meter run, with freshman Ben Boerma (9:20.79) just behind in the fifth spot. Westley Wilson (9:41.22) crossed the line in 11th and freshman Ned Kennedy (9:43.50) posted a 12th-place finish.
