Men’s Tennis Knocks off Lenoir-Rhyne, 5-4

ANDERSON, S.C. - Despite falling behind after the doubles round, Anderson University men's tennis bounced back with four singles wins en route to its 5-4 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Max Grubbs Memorial Courts.

With the triumph, the Trojans jump to 13-3 on the season with a 9-2 mark in conference play, while the Bears drop to 9-12 overall with a 2-7 record for the league. AU grabbed its sixth victory in its last seven contests.

In doubles, the lone AU victory came at the No. 2 position as sophomore Nicolas Ascarrunz and freshman Harrison Kansol knocked off Lenoir-Rhyne's Matthew Ledford and Jordan Lawson, 8-2. Despite the win, L-R posted wins at No. 1 and No. 3 and took a 2-1 advantage into the singles portion.

From there, the Trojans bounced back, as sophomore Juan Carracedo captured his fourth straight singles victory with a 6-2, 7-6 triumph at the No. 2 position, while Kansol cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Ledford at the No. 6 slot. Junior Inaki Iriberry followed his doubles setback with a 6-2, 7-5 win over John Christian Reid at the No. 5 spot, while classmate and doubles partner, Paul Michael Calhoun, sealed the match with a three-set 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 triumph over Filip Dobrosavljevic at No. 4.

Anderson closes out its stretch of three matches in three days on Thursday when it travels to Peach Belt Conference opponent USC Aiken. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
