Men’s Tennis Set to Host Limestone on Friday

ANDERSON, S.C. - Entering the weekend with four straight victories, Anderson University men's tennis heads down the home stretch of its 2015 regular season with just five matches remaining on the schedule, as it hosts Limestone on Friday in a nonconference contest from Max Grubbs Memorial Courts. First serve is set for 2 p.m.

The Trojans
With its four-game winning streak, AU is 11-2 on the season with an 8-1 mark in South Atlantic Conference action with wins over four straight conference rivals. The Trojans will look to close out the month of March with a 6-1 record on Friday, as it currently sits atop the conference standings with a .889 winning percentage.

In singles, the back of the Anderson lineup has stayed consistent throughout the season, as the Trojans are a combined 22-4 at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions this season. Contributing to that winning record has been junior Inaki Iriberry, who is 10-3 at No. 5, and freshman Harrison Kansol, who is a perfect 9-0 on the season at No. 6. The tandem is a combined 14-1 against league opponents on the year, as the tandem is tied with teammate Mateo Rivas for conference singles wins.

In the doubles portion, Iriberry and classmate Paul Michael Calhoun hold a team-high seven victories on the year, including winning their last three. The tandem, which has played at the No. 3 slot all season long, is 5-2 against the SAC.

The Saints
Limestone has dropped two of its last three contests and comes into Friday's match with a 6-4 overall record, but sits in third place in the current Conference Carolinas standings with a 5-1 mark. This season, the Saints have played against three Division I teams including their most recent result of a 7-0 setback to Gardner-Webb.

Leading the way for LC has been Stafano Soares with an 8-1 record, headlined by a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play, while seeing eight matches at the No. 3 spot. Benji Lascari Diaz follows Soares with seven victories on the season, while Gustavo D'Ascenzi, who is projected to play at the No. 1 spot, is 6-4 for the campaign.

Pacing the team in doubles triumphs is the duo of George Green and Lucas Guinski who are 5-3 at the No. 3 position.

The Series
In the last three meetings, Limestone has come away with three straight 6-3 victories, dating back to the 2011 spring season with the teams not playing in 2012. Last season, Rivas and Iriberry posted singles wins, but it was not enough as the Saints came away with the nonconference victory.
