Men’s Tennis Holds Off Brevard, 7-2

BREVARD, N.C. - Tallying five singles wins for the day, Anderson University men's tennis earned its second straight victory with a 7-2 road win over Brevard in South Atlantic Conference action on Tuesday at the BC Tennis Complex.

The triumph improves the Trojans' overall record to 9-2 with a 6-1 mark in SAC play, while the Tornados fall to 4-7 on the year and are still searching for their first conference victory.

AU grabbed two doubles wins to begin the contest, as the team of Nicolas Ascarrunz and Harrison Kansol fended off Nathan Sabate and George Finch with an 8-6 win at the No. 2 spot, while the junior tandem of Paul Michael Calhoun and Inaki Iriberry defeated Christoph Plasa and Richie Liell, 8-2, at No. 3.

In the singles round, sophomore Juan Carracedo knocked off David Taggart at No. 1 with a 6-4, 7-5 victory, while Ascarrunz claimed a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Finch at the No. 2 slot. At No. 3, sophomore Mateo Rivas notched a three-set 2-6, 6-3, 12-10 victory over Sabate, while Iriberry grabbed a 6-2, 7-5 win over Plasa.

Kansol rounded out AU's wins the singles portion with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Liell at the No. 6 position.

Anderson looks to increase its winning streak on Thursday when it travels to Newberry. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
