Men’s Tennis Holds off Lincoln Memorial, 5-4

HARROGATE, Tenn. - Using the momentum from a pair of doubles wins to open the match, Anderson University men's tennis earned a hard-fought 5-4 win over Lincoln Memorial in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday at the LMU Tennis Complex.

With the triumph, the Trojans claimed their 10th win of the season and move to 10-2 overall with a 7-1 mark in conference play. The Railsplitters, who fell to AU for the first time in Harrogate, fall to 3-5 for the season with a 2-3 record for the SAC.

In the doubles round, the sophomore pair of Juan Carracedo and Mateo Rivas fended off LMU's Jushua Coulthard and Will Sparks, 8-6, at the No. 1 position, while the junior tandem of Paul Michael Calhoun and Inaki Iriberry grabbed an 8-2 win over Stefan Hall and Carlos Zunino at the No. 3 slot.

With a 2-1 lead heading into singles play, Nicolas Ascarrunz defeated Sparks 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 2 slot, while Iriberry capped off his perfect day with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Hall at No. 5. Freshman Harrison Kansol closed Anderson's wins for the portion with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Zunino at No. 6, as he moves to a perfect 8-0 for the year.

The Trojans are scheduled to jump back on the courts on Tuesday when they travel to Newberry for a SAC contest. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
