Men's Tennis Team Beats Abbey In Quarterfinals

SUMTER, S.C. -- The Anderson College men's tennis team survived a strong challenge in doubles from Belmont Abbey to beat the Crusaders 5-1 in the first round of the 2004 CVAC Tennis Tournament Friday afternoon. Anderson, 15-6 overall, lost at No. 1 doubles and pulled out a 9-7 victory at No. 2 doubles. The Trojans won three singles matches in straight sets to clinch the victory and move on to Saturday's semifinals. Anderson, the regular-season champion, will face Mount Olive Saturday at noon for the right to move on to Sunday's championship match. CVAC Quarterfinals Anderson 5, Belmont Abbey 1 Doubles 1.
