Men's Tennis Team Takes Top Three CVAC Awards

SUMTER, S.C. -- The Anderson College men's tennis team received the top three awards at the annual CVAC tennis awards banquet Thursday night. Sophomore Gabor Boczonadi was named the CVAC Player of the Year. Boczonadi, a native of Budapest, Hungary, is ranked No. 20 in singles in Division II. This spring at No. 1 singles, Boczonadi is 14-2 overall and he finished 10-0 in the CVAC during the regular season. Carlos Sanches, a native of Rio, Brazil, was named CVAC Freshman of the Year. In singles, Sanches is 13-6 overall and he finished the CVAC regular season with a record of 10-0. In doubles, Sanches and partner Raul Luna are 8-2 overall and won all seven of their CVAC regular-season matches. Anderson head coach Brett Simpson was named CVAC Coach of the Year. Since Anderson joined the CVAC in the fall of 1999, Simpson has a regular-season league record of 56-3. Boczonadi was the lone Anderson player to make the All-CVAC first team. Three Anderson players made the All-CVAC second team -- Sanches, Sid Sudhakar (13-7, 10-0) and Karan Doctor (4-6, 2-2).
