BANNER ELK, N.C. - Redshirt sophomore Lars Zimmerman has been named to the 2013 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region First Team, after being named to the 2012 second team a season ago, as announced by the organization on Monday.
Zimmerman, who was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team and the South Atlantic Conference First Team earlier this season, continues to add accolades after leading the Trojans to their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five seasons. The defender was a major part in Anderson's six shutouts on the season after being named the team's captain prior to the start of the 2013 season.
After leading the team in goals in 2012, Zimmerman made the transition to the backline where he scored two goals and dished out an assist this year. For his career, the native of Malente, Germany has recorded nine goals.
Zimmerman is one of nine players from the SAC to be named to the first team, the most of any conference in the region. Carson-Newman's Ross Frame took the region's Player of the Year award after leading his team with 18 goals and a trip to the NCAA Division II Final Four.
The Trojans closed their season against the Eagles with a 3-2 score in the opening round of the Southeast Regional. Anderson finished 12-7-3 and was ranked as high as 19th in the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA)/Continental Tire National Poll.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the two Daktronics All-Southeast Region teams. This is the eighth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America and all-region teams.

The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II Southeast Region member sports information directors who are members of CoSIDA.
