Zimmerman, Carle Named to All-Conference Teams

ROCK HILL, S.C. - After Anderson University men's soccer advanced to the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament semifinals on Tuesday, the Trojans landed two on the postseason all-conference teams as redshirt sophomore Lars Zimmerman was named to the first team, while classmate Andre Carle was listed on the second team, announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Zimmerman, who most recently earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District Team in District 3, earns his second postseason conference accolade after being named to the second team as a forward a season ago. This year, as a defender, Zimmerman has recorded two goals and an assist coming from the Trojan backline. The native of Malente, Germany has started in 17 of AU's 18 contests this season, captaining a team that has four shutouts on the year. Zimmerman's .250 shooting percentage ranks first on the team with players with five or more shots on goal.

Carle currently ranks fourth in the conference in goals with 11 on the season. On Oct. 16, Carle scored two goals in a 2-1 over non-conference opponent, UNC Pembroke, to become the first player in the SAC this season to record double-digit goals. Carle opened the season with a hat trick over arch rival Erskine, as he eventually scored four game-winners throughout the season.

Nationally, Carle ranks 36th in goals scored and 58th in total points with 23.

The duo returns to action on Friday when the Trojans take on sixth-seeded Mars Hill in the semifinals of the conference tournament. Kickoff from Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. is slated for 4 p.m.
