WINGATE, N.C. - With regional rankings and positions in the South Atlantic Conference standings on the line, neither team could find the goal column as Anderson University men's soccer and Wingate played to a scoreless draw Saturday night at the WU Soccer Complex.

With the draw, Anderson moves to 4-4-2 in league and 9-3-3 overall with its final SAC battle slated for Nov. 2. Overall, the Trojans tally their third draw of the season as the team has played in seven overtime contests for the year. Wingate remains in second in the conference standings with the tie, going to 10-4-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the SAC.

Wingate took the shot category for the night, 20-17, including 10 shots in extra time. Leading the way for Anderson was graduate student Bernd Muxel who fired four shots in 55 minutes played. Freshman defender Paul von Hinueber tightly followed with three on the night, including one troubling Wingate goalkeeper Daniel DeGraff. On the opposite side, Wingate's leading goal scorer Peron Da Silva tallied eight shots with two on goal.

DeGraff's counterpart, freshman Bo Haug, notched four saves on the night, earning his third draw this season. Haug now has four shutouts on the year with 51 saves.

"We asked for a response from our guys and they came through with a complete effort," Anderson head coach John Murphy said. "The match was very difficult and both teams played to win and both of us created chances. It was a sporting game and that was the intensity it takes at this level. We hope to bring that intensity this upcoming week."

The Trojans return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 30 for a key regional matchup with Peach Belt Conference foe Francis Marion before closing their regular season with Carson-Newman on Nov. 2. Kickoff against the Patriots is scheduled for 4 p.m.
