ANDERSON, S.C. - In a matchup that featured two of the top goal scorers in the South Atlantic Conference, Carson-Newman's Ross Frame got the best of Anderson University men's soccer's Andre Carle as Frame netted two goals en route to the Eagles 3-2 overtime victory over the Trojans Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

Frame scored from the penalty spot in the opening half and later followed with a late second half equalizer to give him his 14th and 15th goals of the season. Carle, who came into the match with 10 goals, tallied a 55th minute goal to Anderson a 2-1 lead.

With the top goal scorers shining, it was C-N's Matheus Bachi who got the overtime game-winner in the 99th minute of play when he found the deflection off an AU goalkeeper Bo Haug stop. Bachi notched his fourth goal of the season to hand the Eagles their seventh straight victory heading into next week's 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

Despite the loss, Anderson earned a trip to the conference tournament as Lenoir-Rhyne was defeated by this season's regular-season champion, Queens, as L-R will finish a point behind the Trojans. AU closes the regular season with a 10-5-3 overall record and a 4-5-2 mark in conference play, as it searches for its fourth straight conference tournament.

Freshman Paul von Hinueber opened the scoring in the 11th minute when redshirt sophomore Benoit Torres sent a cross into the Carson-Newman box. Graduate student Bernd Muxel got a touch to the ball before von Hinueber slid a shot past goalkeeper Rumwald Le Guevel. The goal was von Hinueber's fourth goal of the season after beginning the season with three goals in Anderson's first three contests.

In the 35th minute, Frame got the Eagles back into the match with his first of two goals, which would send the contest into halftime even at 1-1.

Carle matched Frame's goal in the 55th minute when the Trojans countered off a C-N corner kick. Freshman Aaron Roberson took a deflection down the field and past the Eagle backline. After beating a defender in the box and drawing Le Guevel off his line, Roberson slipped a pass to a wide open Carle who got the goal. The well-earned assist gives Roberson 12 points which ranks second to Carle on the team for the year.

After it looked as if AU was able to capture the victory, Carson-Newman was awarded a free kick in its zone. Le Guevel came out of his goal to send a long ball down to his forwards. Le Guevel's pass took a bounce and found the head of Frame who lobbed a shot over Haug's head for the late equalizer. The goalkeeper was awarded his first assist of his career with the long ball.

As the teams headed into the first overtime period, C-N took advantage of another set piece when it was awarded a free kick in the 99th minute. As the ball was sent into the Trojan box, Sindre Welo took a shot that was stopped by Haug. With Haug unable to hold onto the shot, Bachi was there to stick in the game-winner, snapping a potential two-match winning streak for the Trojans.

"It's a tough way to end the regular season," head coach John Murphy said. "Unfortunately, some of the most effective lessons are the toughest to learn. We hope to show people, with our young team, that we're resilient and up to the challenge on Tuesday."

Anderson will either travel to top-seeded Queens or second-seeded Wingate on Tuesday, pending final results within the conference. Kickoff time is still yet to be determined.
