KANSAS CITY, Kan. - After an overtime loss to Queens and a 1-0 victory over Mars Hill, the Anderson University men's soccer team finds itself at the No. 9 position in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll, released by the NSCAA on Tuesday.
The Trojans are currently 5-2-1 overall and carry a 2-2 mark in South Atlantic Conference play with both of the team's losses coming in overtime. With their results from the week, the Trojans moved from the No. 7 position to the No. 9 spot.
AU is one of four SAC teams in the poll, as Queens paces the conference finishing at No. 4. Following the Royals is Coker, which is at No. 5, and Lenoir-Rhyne, which is a position ahead of AU at the No. 8 position. Peach Belt favorite Lander controls the top spot in the region with Young Harris, a team Anderson defeated earlier this season, tightly following at No. 2.
Nationally, the team is currently 13th in both goals (20) and points (56). Redshirt sophomore Andre Carle ranks among the nation's best with six goals on the season, putting him in 16th nationally. Junior Mattias Schyberg and redshirt freshman Henrique Gazzi are tied for 19th nationally in assists, as each player has dished out four on the year.
The Trojans returns to action on Wednesday as they head to North Georgia. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
