Red-Hot Trojans Erase Erskine, 4-1

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Jordan Kelly scored two goals to lead Anderson University to a dominating 4-1 victory over Erskine in a CVAC match Thursday night at Smethers Field. "I thought we played very good soccer," said Anderson head coach Rob Miller. "I was extremely impressed with our mental focus. We settled in early and had control of the match." Anderson, 8-9 overall and 3-6 in the CVAC, has won three straight and outscored the opposition 18-2 during the winning streak. After creating several dangerous chances in the first 30 minutes, the Trojans finally broke through at 37:39 when Peter Miele blasted a rebound past Erskine goalkeeper Josh Veal. At 47:38, Kelly scored his first goal of the match on a header off an entry pass from Dave Taylor. Kelly tallied his second goal at 59:44 when he ran through, took a pass from Michael Walker, and lofted the ball into the upper right corner of the Fleet net. "Jordan is starting to do what we thought he could do," Miller said. "He is creating problems for the other team and that's what we want." Kelly, a freshman from London, England, has scored six goals and tallied three assists during Anderson's winning streak. He has scored a total of nine goals this season. The Fleet, 3-11-1 and 1-7-1, broke up the shutout at 68:39 when Milton Posada scored on a one-timer off a pass from John Michael Leppert. The Trojans scored their final goal less than two minutes later at 69:42 when Stephon Henry found Michael Zion in front, and Zion flicked the pass with his right heel into the net. Anderson had 20 shots to Erskine's eight. Anderson goalkeeper Andy Barth made four saves to pick up the victory. 2006 Anderson Men's Soccer Statistics
