No. 13 Bobcats Beat Trojans In Second OT

BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Alex Turnello scored in the 105th minute to give Lees-McRae a 3-2 victory over Anderson University Saturday night. The Bobcats opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Berin Boracic sent in a pass forward for teammate Matt Lacey. Lacey used his speed to out run a pair of Trojan defenders for a breakaway on goalkeeper Alex Jenkins. Two minutes later the Bobcats extended their lead when Kyle McGimsey gave Michael Lind a quick touch pass on a corner quick. Lind passed to McGimsey, who found the top far right corner of the goal, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead to take into halftime. Anderson bounced back early in the second half with two quick goals. In the 54th minute, Michael Zion headed a crossed ball to put the visitors on the board, and in the 55th minute, Peter Miele evened the score with a shot from the top left of the 18-yard box. After a scoreless first overtime, McGimsey sent a cross that Turnello collected and fired past Jenkins for the inning goal.
