Belmont Abbey Rallies To Beat Anderson, 3-1

BELMONT, N.C. -- After allowing a goal in the first half, Belmont Abbey scored three second half goals in the final 28 minutes as the Crusaders rallied to defeat Anderson University 3-1. The Abbey improves to 9-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the CVAC, while the Trojans fall to 5-8 overall and 2-5 in the CVAC. The Trojans got on the board first in the 10th minute as forward Michael Zion fired a blast from 25 yards out that was deflected off of a Crusader defender's leg and into the right corner of the net to give Anderson the 1-0 lead. The lead stood all the way through the first half and into the 63rd minute when junior forward Luis Arrieta scored his CVAC leading 13th goal of the year. Tied at one, Wyatt gave the Crusaders the lead for good in the 87th minute when he buried a penalty kick past Barth. Just 1:25 later, the Crusaders added an insurance goal as Arrieta again got free deep in the Anderson zone and flipped a high pass to sophomore midfielder Daniel Morrison. Barth got a hand on the pass, but Morrison cradled the deflection and tapped in his third goal of the year. 2006 Anderson Men's Soccer Statistics
