SALISBURY, N.C. - The Anderson University men's golf team finished eighth at the Richard Rendleman Invitational, hosted by Catawba on Tuesday at the 6,665-yard par 71 Country Club of Salisbury.
Junior Sean Shelton (71-74=145) finished tied for sixth with Erskine's Tyler Lucas, as each finished four shots behind individual medalist Adam Hedges of Belmont Abbey. Senior John Moore (72-74=146) finished one stroke further back in a four-way tie for eighth.
Junior Arran Setro (74-80=154) tied for 50th, while freshman Payden Parrish (75-83=158) finished in a tie for 71st. Sophomore CJ Messana (93-78=171) wrapped up the event in 90th.
Belmont Abbey (296-287=583) surged from second place to claim the team title, finishing seven strokes ahead of runner-up USC Aiken. Lenoir-Rhyne (297-295=592) claimed third, while Catawba, Carson-Newman and North Greenville tied for fourth with a 595 total. King College (303-294=597) placed seventh, with AU one stroke further back.
The Trojans return to action on Saturday for the two-day Tusculum College Invitational.
