Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Anderson Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. - Junior Arran Setro trimmed six strokes off his opening round on Monday to help the Anderson University men's golf team claim fourth place at the 2012 AU Invitational Tuesday at the Anderson Country Club's par 71, 6,505 yard layout.

Flagler College (281-280=561) won the event by a comfortable 17-stroke margin over runner-up Erskine (294-284=578), while Pfeiffer (298-287=585) moved into third and the Trojans (296-298=594) claimed fourth, three shots ahead of fifth-place Cape Fear Community College (300-297=597). Tri-County Tech (301-300=601) moved into sixth, with Mars Hill (297-307=604) taking seventh and Spartanburg Methodist (309-304=613) and Paine College (320-312=632) in eighth and ninth, respectively.

Flagler's Howard Schindler (67-68=135) increased his margin and claimed individual honors, with Paine's Carlos Solis (68-73=141) earning second.

Setro (76-70=146) moved up 15 spots into a tie for 10th, while teammate CJ Messana (74-74=148) wrapped up the tourney tied for 18th. Rob Warren (70-79=149) finished in a tie for 21st and junior Sean Shelton (76-75=151) tied for 24th. Newcomer Payden Parrish posted a two-round 156 and finished in a tie for 36th.

AU gets back on the links Sept. 24-25 at the Jay Jennison Memorial, hosted by Flagler College at the Palencia Club.
