Anderson and Erskine Men’s Golf Teams Battle to Stalemate in Match Play

GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Anderson University men's golf team rallied to tie Erskine, 4-4 at the conclusion of the two-day head-to-head match play competition Friday afternoon at Hunter's Creek Plantation.

Friday's event featured six individuals on each team competing in a match-play format with six points available. Anderson needed to claim four of the six points available to win the two-day event after trailing 2-1 at the end of Thursday's first round at Cobb's Glen.

The Trojans' John Moore earned a 3 and 2 decision past Erskine's Michael Assey, while Jon David Ozmint posted a 5 and 3 win over the Fleet's Wade Ramsey and Sean Shelton notched a narrow 2 and 1 victory over Erskine's Jeremy Carrell - giving AU its' three wins on the final day.

The Fleet's Brad Thorne edged Arran Setro 4 and 3, while EC's Ford Blanchard posted a 6 and 5 win past AU senior Chase Epting. Erskine's Ronnie Funk holed a dramatic 45-foot putt for birdie on the final hole of the day's final match to earn the overall tie for the Flying Fleet.

For the first time in three years and the second time in the last six, Erskine claimed the coveted Beville Cup.
