Men’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Southern Wesleyan Invitational

EASLEY, S.C. - The Anderson University men's golf team trimmed 15 shots off its first-round effort and finished fourth at the Southern Wesleyan Invitational on the par 72, 6,796 yard Smithfield Country Club in Easley.

The Trojans (321-306=627) erased a four-stroke deficit and the host Warriors (319-301=620) came from two shots behind, a each squad moved up to overtake Spartanburg Methodist (317-321=638) for the third and fourth spots, respectively.

AU wrapped up the two-day event seven shots behind SWU and 11 strokes ahead of Spartanburg Methodist.

AU junior John Moore (72-76=148) slipped four shots from his opening-round even par on Monday to finish in a tie for third, while sophomore Arran Setro (78-76=154) fired a final-round four-over par to claim ninth. Senior Chase Epting (84-77=161) trimmed seven strokes from his opening round to tie for 22nd.

Sophomore Sean Shelton (87-77=164) posted the largest improvement of the Trojan contingent, slicing 10 shots from the first round to share 29th and Wheeler Renfroe shaved eight strokes from Monday's effort to move into the 32nd spot.

The Trojans wrap up their fall schedule Monday and Tuesday at the Lincoln Memorial Invitational, which will be played at Wasioto Winds in Pineville, Ky.
