Baseball to Face Southern Wesleyan at Fluor Field

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University baseball head coach Joe Miller has announced the Trojans will meet Southern Wesleyan on March 5 at Greenville's Fluor Field, home of the Single-A Boston Red Sox affiliate Greenville Drive, moving the originally scheduled game away from SWU's Dr. C. Keith Connor Field.

The Drive is the Class A minor league affiliate of the Boston Red Sox and a member of the South Atlantic League and play their home games at Fluor Field in the heart of downtown Greenville. The stadium, which seats 5,700 fans, opened on April 6, 2006 and was named "Ballpark of the Year" for the 2006 season by Baseballparks.com, beating out such stadiums as St. Louis's Busch Stadium and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College, Pa. The stadium shares the dimensions of Fenway Park, and boasts its own "Green Monster" complete with manual scoreboard.

The game marks the third straight season the Trojans will travel to Fluor Field, previously playing Lander in their last two meetings, splitting the yearly matchups.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. and AU will serve as the visiting team.

Anderson begins its 2014 slate on Feb. 1 with its home opener against Peach Belt Conference foe UNC Pembroke. First pitch from Anderson Memorial Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
