Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams Vault into Sixth Place in Southeast Region Rankings

NEW ORLEANS - On the heels of strong team performances at East Tennessee State's Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational and stellar individual efforts at Grand Valley State's Big Meet last Friday, the Anderson men's and women's indoor track and field teams are each ranked sixth in the Southeast Region in the season's fourth U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, as released earlier in the week.

The women's team jumped 15 spots from 21st to No. 6 this week, joining Queens (No. 1), Wingate (No. 4) and Carson-Newman as representatives from the South Atlantic Conference in the poll's top-10. The top five remained unchanged from last week, with Queens remaining in the top spot, while Southern Wesleyan, Montevallo, Wingate and UNC Pembroke rounded out the five slots. Limestone followed AU in the seventh spot, with Mount Olive, Clayton State and Carson-Newman, ranked eighth, ninth and 10t, respectively.

This week's men's rankings featured six teams from the South Atlantic Conference and four from Conference Carolinas, with the Trojans moving 14 slots from 20th a week ago to sixth.

Limestone held the top spot, with Mount Olive, Carson-Newman, Queens and Wingate in the No. 2 through No. 5 slots. AU was sixth, with North Greenville, Barton, Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne rounding out the poll.
