CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After the first day of events at the 49er Classic, hosted by UNC Charlotte at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center on Thursday, Anderson sophomore Jill Baxter is in 11th place in the heptathlon.
The Classic began on Thursday morning and featured four events on opening day, with Baxter using a personal-best distance of 8.87 meters in the shot put to finish sixth in the event. She placed seventh in the high jump at 1 48 meters and 14th in the 200 meters in a time of 28.15 seconds. Her time of 18.89 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles was good enough for 17th.
The remaining three events (long jump, javelin, and 800m) will
take place on Friday starting at 10 a.m.
