Trojan Track and Field Makes Strong Showing at Coastal Carolina

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams posted strong outings at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Doug Shaw Stadium.

Sophomore Jill Baxter finished 17th in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters and also posted an 18th-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.27. The Denver, N.C. native placed 21st in the javelin throw with a toss of 24.18 meters. Teammate Madison Guest earned ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.92, while

Sophomore Brooklyn Watkins notched a distance of 31.08 meters in the javelin throw, which was good enough for 11th. Sophomore Brooklyn Watt claimed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 12.68 meters and finished 13th in the hammer throw at 39.52 meters.

Freshman D'Yandra Morris (11.00 meters) earned 15th in the shot put, with sophomore Savanna Keese earning 12th in the hammer throw at 40.59 meters, 19th in the discus throw at 30.74 meters and 21st iin the shot put at 10.19 meters.

For the men, senior Josh Butler earned 14th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.28 seconds and 17th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.67 seconds. Sophomore Joshua Visi-Clark crossed the line in the 800 meter run 12th in a time of 1:58.95, with Parks Edwards notching 17th in a time 15:53.78. Senior Alex Pena posted a 10th-place finish in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 9:54.32.

Senior Zach Hart placed ninth in the javelin throw with a distance of 52.25 meters, with senior Will Byars placing 11th in the shot put (13.38 meters), 13th in the hammer throw (45.63 meters) and 19th in the discus (35.15 meters). Sophomore Nathan Plank finished 16th in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.36 meters and 20th in the shot put with a distance of 11.48 meters.

Anderson will return to action Thursday and Friday at UNC Charlotte.
