CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Anderson University women's golf team
finished in a tie for 12th with UNC Pembroke at Wingate's 12th
annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate following
Tuesday's final round at the 5,823 yard, par 72 Olde Sycamore Golf
Plantation.
Freshman Sarah Timms (78-88=166) and senior Laura Buyers
(81-85=166) led the Anderson effort with two-day 22-over scorecards
and finished in a tied for 35th, while senior Kalyn Johnson
(88-81=169) trimmed seven shots from her opening round and moved
from 70th into a four-way tie for 48th.
Freshman Natalie Feder (85-86=171) tied for 56th, while sophomore Katie Eskew (84-89=173) tied for 61st.
Barry University led wire-to-wire to take the team championship, shooting 318 Tuesday for a final score of 625, 14 strokes ahead of second-place Columbus State. Seventeen schools and 90 student-athletes participated in this year's event. The Trojans wrapped up the two-day event two shots behind Lenoir-Rhyne and 10 shots behind host Wingate. .
The Trojans return to action next week at the Agnes McAmis Memorial, hosted by Tusculum.
