ANDERSON, S.C. -- As the Anderson women's basketball team heads into the Conference Carolinas' tournament championship game looking for its second consecutive title and its seventh straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, junior guard Alexa Neal has been named first-team all-conference, as announced by the conference office Friday afternoon. Neal started all 27 regular-season contests and was named to the first team after earning honorable-mention following the 2008-09 season. She was named league Player of the Week on Dec. 8 and the 5-foot-8 guard leads the team in scoring and ranks 14th in the conference, eighth in assists and 13th in steals. The Greensboro, N.C. native also leads AU in assists, steals and blocked shots and ranks second on the team in rebounding. She led the team in scoring on 11 occasions and rebounding three times. Neal reached double figures in 16 games, while reaching the 20-point plateau three times and collected at least four rebounds 17 times and handed out at least three assists in 17 games. 'I am very proud that Alexa was chosen," Anderson head coach Jim Brunelli said. "Her hard work in the off-season and this year is proven each time she steps on the court. She is a tough competitor and it shows day in and day out. I'm very happy for her that the conference has recognized her skills and ability." Neal was joined on the first team by Barton's Esty Flores, Marissa Hudley of Queens, Mount Olive's Helen Moore and Erskine' Porsha Morgan. Anderson hosts Queens in the tournament championship Saturday night at the Abney Athletic Center, with tipoff slated for 7 p.m. All Conference Teams
